NO. 4 The Conjuring (2013)




Based on the real-life works of Ed and Lorraine Warren, exorcist couple, this movie is the prime example of how terrifying exorcism can be. Ed and Lorraine helped a family in their newly bought farmhouse, where the family was terrified of the ghosts and evil spirits.

This movie is followed by two other sequels following other chapters of the exorcist duo.

We suggest you watch the movie, especially for the ending. The ending part of the movie is truly a piece of art in this genre.

NO 3 Annabelle: Creation (2017)




Any list of horror movies does feel quite empty without a doll-based movie. There are quite a few movies based on an evil spirited doll.

None is comparable with the Annablle: Creation.

This movie is a prequel of the ' The Conjuring', featuring the darkest chapter in the life of Ed and Lorraine Warren where the doll's history and is highlighted.

The scariest part of the movie is the doll exists in the real world. The doll remains in a glass box at The Warrens' Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut. Ed and Lorraine Warren identified the doll as 'Positively do no-touch' as even the 'touch' is evil enough.



NO 2 The Shining (1980)





You don't need masks or gore-makeups to induce fear in the viewer's hearts. Humankind is horrifying enough when it loses its sanity.

This complex psychological horror-mystery thriller is a perfect example of this.

👑 NO 1 The Exorcist (1978)





Yes. Nothing better was made before this. Nothing quite as good as this will be made (almost) in the future. Released way back in 1978, this movie continues to thrill us with fear. No matter how many times we watch this, every time we feel a chill in our spines. This is complete terror at its peak.

This movie is the only 'Horror' genre movie that got an 8.0 score on IMDB, declaring the most horrifying movie of all time.

We dare you to watch this magnum opus in the darkest of night, alone in your bedroom. Be careful of the stairs!!

The Haunting Of Hill House (2018)





When the question is about horrifying movies, it is quite tough to find a good web-series in the 'Horror' genre.

Though it is not a movie, this series is just as good as any of our top 5 horror movies. Especially, Episode 5 and Episode 6 is critically acclaimed for cinematography, camera-work, direction, and overall a well-versed script.
