ASSAM GETS SEVERELY FLOODED, 84 HUMAN LIVES LOST TILL NOW

This Year is turning out to be nightmare for the downtrodden people who does not have the infrastructure , Economic feasibility to protect themselves from natural calamity or pandemic. During these hard times when our country and the whole world is going through covid-19 pandemic Assam is facing double crisis. Severe Rainfall began on 12th July that flooded the Brahmaputra River which resulted in a severe flood around 30 districts thereby affecting more than 45 Lakh people. Assam government is running 426 relief camps where 1.18 lakh people have been sheltered .1,12,138.99 hectares of crop area has been affected till now. 84 vital lives lost in this flood throughout Assam. 108 animals including 9 Rhinos died in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park amd Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) According to the Bulletin issued by the park authorities on Sunday. Park authorities also said that 85% area of the park spread over 430 square kilometre area is under water at present. Till now there is 11centimetre rise in the water level of Brahmaputra river according to Central Water Commission.



Seeing this grave crisis in this North Eastern state of India Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured all support to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a telephonic call between them. Discussing the flood situation CM Sarbananda Sonowal informed Narendra Modi about the measures his government has taken so far in dealing with the problems faced by the people. CM also visited Madanabari Village in Mayong , Morigaon district on Sunday. Ex Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi accused PM and Indian Home Minister of hollow sympathy for not visiting Assam till now. We can only hope and appeal to the local administration to save people's lives. And rest of India should show their solidarity to the ordinary people of assam who has been affected by the flood.
